Contact Us
If you have questions, suggestions, corrections, or want to explore collaboration, we welcome your message. The Fix It Field Guide is maintained by a small team of repair educators and field technicians with years of hands-on experience in consumer electronics, home repairs, and sustainable maintenance practices. Reaching out helps us keep guides accurate, practical, and community-focused.
How to reach us
Please send a message to our central email address: hello@fixitfieldguide.org. This is the only channel we use for incoming inquiries so that we can track and respond consistently.
What to include in your email
- Subject line: Briefly state the topic (e.g., “Guide correction: Model X battery replacement”).
- Details: Describe your question or feedback, including device model, guide URL (if relevant), photos, and steps you’ve already tried.
- Attachments: Add photos or short videos when they clarify a repair issue or error in a guide.
- Your role: Tell us if you’re a DIYer, technician, teacher, journalist, or organization; that helps us tailor the response.
What we handle
We welcome the following types of inquiries:
- Corrections and clarifications — Report errors, broken links, or unclear instructions in any guide.
- Technical questions — Ask about troubleshooting steps, parts compatibility, or common failure modes. Provide as much context as possible.
- Accessibility and usability feedback — Suggestions to make content easier to follow for people with different needs.
- Media, press, and speaking requests — Invitations for interviews, articles, or events related to repair advocacy.
- Partnerships and educational collaborations — Proposals for workshops, curriculum integration, or joint projects.
- Licensing and reuse — Questions about using our text, photos, or data in other publications or platforms.
- Volunteer and contribution interest — If you want to contribute guides, edits, or translations, tell us about your experience and samples.
Response time and priorities
Our standard response window is within 48–72 hours on weekdays. During busy periods or holidays it may take a little longer; we’ll aim to acknowledge receipt sooner when possible. For time-sensitive issues (for example, safety concerns or widely circulating incorrect instructions), please indicate urgency in the subject line and include clear evidence so we can prioritize review.
What we don’t provide
We do not offer real-time troubleshooting, on-site repair services, or emergency assistance by email. If you need immediate hands-on help, please contact a qualified local technician or emergency service in your area.
We appreciate clear, respectful messages. Every inquiry helps improve the Field Guide for everyone — thank you for taking the time to reach out.
